Get the ice off, Its time to get your crappie fish on. I CANT WAIT!
Tell me about. was there about 2 weeks ago & lake is still way down
I only live 20 mins. away. And my boat told me he is ready to be unwrapped & get wet. lol
Many years ago we lived in Speedway In. My young bro in law came to visit for a month and wanted to do some crappie fishing. I had not fished Raccoon but we loaded up and drove to the lake. We waded and used a pink head white tail 1/8 jig under a bobber. We caught a washtub full of crappie. I had not heard the name Raccoon Lake in a long time. I am a converted hillbilly now. We have some good crappie waters here in Tennessee.
Is this raccoon lake in ill. by st.Louis?

Three springs ago we tore up the 11 & 12in. slabs at Cecil B. Hardin (Raccoon), 2 years ago was pretty decent and last year had seemed to drop off even more. The lake actually appeared over ran with white bass. As we all know, the Crappie spawn and growth goes in cycles, hopefully this year thier population and size will make a healthy rebound! Anybody here have good size and numbers at Hardin last year?
Like Momma always said, "There ain't nothin' worse than a messy tackle box!"
I never had problems caughting 11-13 inch crappie at raccoon last year one of my favorite spots.

For me, I do good enough number wise. But I'm not very good at findin' the biguns. Hope to be a better fish hunter this year.
And does it seem to you guys that when the whites start hittin' the minners, the crappie bite falls off? It does to me.
Leavin' Monday to go marry off one of my daughters. Be back around the 17th. Then only a week and a half till they turn the power on at the campground!!!
