    Default Any advice appreciated

Hello all. I use to spend alot of time on here 5 + years ago, I still recognize a few of the names on here. This was always a great forum and I'm sure it still is. I use to fish alot at Summit, Brookville, Salamonie and Grand Lake in Celina Ohio---I sold my boat and moved on to a golf course about 5 years ago and not done much fishing since then.
I recently lost my father in an auto accident this past summer and my favorite memories as a kid was fishing with him....he always use to take me to Prairie Creek, Salamonie, Brookville and the strip pits down south...I now have 2 young boys of my own ages 8 and 5...I am ready to start making those memories for them now.....not fishing alot over the last 5 years, I would love some advice on where and when and such....Crappie fishing, however gills would be just as fun for my boys as well....

So any information on Summit, Brookville, Salamonie, Missisennewa, or even Whitewater Lake in Liberty would be greatly appreciated....
Going to the boat, sport and travel show this weekend to hopefully get a good deal on a new boat, if not I will have one before ice is melts and be ready to go for spring...

    Thanks for any info

    First off welcome back!
If your going to take the kids, Salamonie would be a great place for the kids. Lots of trees and laydowns to fish, lots of crappie and white bass wherever you go, as long as you keep the kids on fish it makes it that much better, thats why i would choose this resevoir first with the kids.
The Miss is starting to produce some pretty nice crappie, that would be my second place.
Monroe Resevoir is my favorite place to fish, it has Alot of gills and crappie, along with Patoka.
If your looking for a boat to buy i would recommend a fiberglass, especially with the kids just because its easier to manuever in the wind and its a little more sleek, and easier to fish out of. I just got rid of my aluminum that i bought ( crestliner ) , and i will never buy another one, atleast not a crestliner.
Stratos has what i think is an excellent buy going on for a 16 or 17ft. fiberglass with a 50 horse yamaha for like $10,000 brand new. I seen some going to the boat show today, they look nice.
    Hope this helps

you can fish whitewater from the bank early(april) in the year, and do purty well with the gills and crappie, great for keeping the kids into it.
Brookville isnt hard to fish, but it does have a learing curve. I can get ya going in the right direction, but only the fish can tell ya for sure when and where to be.
