I have purchased a 15 foot deep v about 67 inches wide. i need a motor! probablly going to purchase one from a guy on here this week, but im still leaving options open. i mesured the transom from top to bottom. it was around 18-19 inches do i have to have a long shaft? or would my old 9.5 evinrude short shaft work for a back up?
next question, i want to add a live well. should i make it out of a cooler, or but the one out of bass pro that has two lids and is as wide a the bench seat? or should i just use a basket? i like the basket idea but while motoring up i have to pull them in, and they dont survive the day in it.
thank u for all ur help. im new to this.
As far as a livewell goes, I just used a big cooler w/ a white hinged lid and put 2 or 3 frozen 2 ltr bottles of water in the bottom. I would add a few inches of water from the lake to make it easier to clean out. Fish stayed cold and were easier to clean since they were not flopping around. Alot cheaper and probably less hassle then adding a livewell.
Motor should be ready tomorrow if your still interested.

If you live near a Gander Mountain, they sell a cooler mounting kit for your boat to mount a hinged cooler to make a livewell out of it. They also sell a livewell pump kit with connecting hose to make a actual livewell too. If you don't live near a Gander Mountain, then I bet you can find all these components on line at Cabelas.com
Good Luck!

So i should, get a big cooler add the airator system and still put two liters frozen in it? im not concerned with keeping them alive, just fresh.
If your just interested in keeping them fresh, just get a big cooler full of ice, and throw them right on the ice. I did that for years, and it worked just fine!
