    Default Hardy Lake report

Went again yesterday, crappie bit well 16' on channel ledges. No real size, only caught a couple keepers out of about 30 fish. If you like to bass fish, I would say right now would be a great time to get after them. We caught tons of bass and stripes drifting the ledges, who knows what you could get if you were actually fishing for them! Also, talked with another boat, that was tearing the BIG bluegill and redear up, I watched them catch a bunch of good sized keeper fish. Redworms, 9' deep in the stumps.

Good report, I'm going to try and go up to Hardy in the morning. We're going after gills, ears and crappie. I've never had much luck catching the ears in the stumps though, mainly bluegill in the stumps for me.

I remember you saying a while back something about catching big redears on the old roadbed. Where is that old roadbed? I've heard there's a roadbed that extends off of the Alpha or Sunnyside ramp and goes across the lake in that area??

Did you head out this morning? We went and fished until around 2:30, left the crappie gear at home, and had a stellar day bluegill fishing. Just cleaned around 30 fat bluegill and redear, also caught a few channel cats, and 3 stripers. Lake was like a mirror all day long, with lots of cloud cover, it was a great day to be on the lake. All fish came from 4' to 15' deep on redworms. The old roadbed that produces well for me is all the way back by the island in the very back of the no wake area. You cant miss it, some of the road is still visible on the bank, and the other side has a tree row in a perfectly straight line about 100 yards out into the lake. You may give it a shot, but I only have luck back there when the fish are bedding.

Not today but we're going tomorrow morning. I'll put in at Wooster ramp, the old ramp and fish that end of the lake. Hoping to catch a nice mess of gills and ears. Sounds like you had a good day!

We went yesterday and fished from 9-5 and only caught 15 keepers. We literally fished all over the lake and by 3pm we only had two in the livewell. We finally discovered that the redear in particular, we're in SHALLOW water, we caught thirteen from about 4pm until we left at 5 in two-four feet of water. I can't believe this time of year those redears were in that shallow water, most of the day we fished in deep water.

Caught four ears that were really big and the others nice size. redworms were the bait.

I was at Hardy on Thursday with the family. Pretty day on the lake, but somewhat breezy in the morning, very nice towards evening though. I may have seen you redearhoosier, were you possibly in a blue boat pulled by white van? We fished fast side most of the day, even tried a little drifting, but never ran into any concentrations of fish. Late in the day went to the wooster area and caught a few gills. I was surprised by how fat and healthy they were...couldn't hardly catch them out of the livewell and they were jumping around like hummingbirds on crack. I was hoping for redear, but sounds like we were fishing too deep too. We caught a few small bass also. Saw one small boat with 2 fellas possibly speaking russian? Guy in front was hand lining them in...as if ice fishing. They were constantly catching fish, but many looked small tho. I was humbled by their fishing skill. Was that anybody on this board? All in all, it was just a good day to soak up some Fall beauty on the water regardless of the fishing outcome. I'll post a couple pictures later.

Yeah, you saw me, that's my old boat and the work van. Where were you? I go to Hardy all the time and generally target the redear but we're going to try for some crappie next week. I've got some decent redear holes and it's just hard for me to ignore them.

Redear, we were right behind you when you pulled up to the gatehouse in the morning... grey jeep pulling a old green ranger bass boat. You went to wooster ramp, I went to alpha. Saw you several times during the day....made mental note of all your redear hotspots :D

Did you see the guys in the beautiful big tracker boat with cannon down riggers? They were putting out what looked like balloons in the water all day and trolling on fast side from slow bouys to dam and back. They had 12 stripers at the end of the day. Not sure what was going on with all the balloons... eg like jug fishing or some striper technique I am not familiar with?

Here's a picture of 2 fellas on the lake.... what caught my attention was (1) the russian, or slavic language being spoken, and the unusual hand lining technique the guy in front was using....eg pulling up line hand over hand. Maybe someone on this board?

Went back again today with my father and my oldest son, and wore out the bluegill and crackers. Only had a couple real big ones, but plenty of keepers. Found a spot late in the day about 25' long filled with fish. I think we had about 10 in the cooler when we found it, and a hour later we had probably caught 50 fish. Hope this bite lasts!!!!!
