    Default Why Crappie?

I'm fairly new to fishing. Started getting more serious a year or two ago. Initially, I thought I'd focus on bass primarily because that's what I saw guys fishing for the most on t.v. Fortunately, a good buddy turned me on to crappie fishing this year and I'm eternally thankful. I've had the pleasure of catching truphy sized muskie, walleye, northern pike, bass, etc. But have a blast catching crappie. Someone recently asked me "why crappie?" and I was stumped to give a good answer so hopefully y'all can help me Thanks.

I have been successful bass fishing, even in tournaments. I have caught large bluegills, have a world record yellow bass, have had fun catching walleye and white bass.

I LOVE crappie fishing though. Some of the reasons why are the fact that I like catching large numbers of fish, I like the challenge that crappie provide. They are fun to chase and catch from ice out to ice up in open water, and I thoroughly enjoy pattern fishing for crappie. I love to structure fish, and crappie fight very good. The thrill of catching a large one is possible on every trip.

I could go on and on about "why crappie", but I guess it boils down to crappie fishing gets in your blood and you crave doing it. They are a cool looking fish and an excellent eating fish too.

    Good Luck!

Best of both worlds, table fare and mutiple ways of fishing for them.Seems like bass fishing at times w/o the catch and release thing.Although in the spring I do release some egg laiden females to keep the pot full.Especially up here where alot of these lakes are 100 acres or smaller.Plus you have the advantage of catching more bonus fish like bass, eyes and an ocassional northern if your equip.holds out.Don't get me wrong I love my gills and perch too but some days bobber watching does'nt get the blood goin'.
