i went out yesterday early thinking it was going to rain by 10am. well the rain didnt come till early afternoon. that was great because i had more time to fish, but they just weren't cracking like i figured they would be. only scratched a lilttle over a doz. keepers with 7-8 dinks in the 9-10" range. i really had to get deep into the brush and tipped my twistertail with small chunks of shad. this was the biggest one at 14"

fishing so close to shore had its benefits though. i found a bonus mushroom to join the fillets in the skillet.

Had a trip like that about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Guess we can't whack them every tripSure beats work and the approaching winter though

"Big Indiana Bass"
Nice crappie. Were you on the river if I might ask?
I also went out yesterday thinking they would be biting. Got off work early and went to a small lake north of Ft Wayne. It was really slow. Didn't find any puffballs either. This cold front and rain today sure isn't gonna help matters much.
yes i was up in the river CW. most fish down in the res. but i find much much bigger ones in the river section. cant say why but it seams that waydont get me wrong i have got into schools of toads in the res section but not as often as up river. i have been concentrating on the upper res./ river crappie, almost exclusively, for the last 10years or so.
