Thread: Geist?

I am relatively new to fishing freshwater, I was wondering if anybody knows of any areas that can be reached by foot at geist reservoir. It is the closest reservoir to me(I live downtown Indy), and I have never been there. I am not asking for honey holes, just somewhere that I can park and walk to catch some fish. I do not mind walking distances for better spots. Thanks for any help.

Oh yeah, Eagle Creek reservoir will work too!

Geist has very poor bank access. The causeways at Fall Cr. and Olio Rd. are about the only places you can easily get too. Most of the rest is private property. Might be able to fish below the dam in Fall CR. though (I've never tried but have heard people mention fishing there).

Eagle Cr. has much better shore access. You can fish nearly the entire upper right side of the reservoir (56th to 71st St.) by entering the park, as well as the entire 56th St. causeway and a stretch of property at the boat ramp on the lower end of the lake off Dandy Trail. They also have a bait shop and boat rentals, though the rentals may be done for the year. Bait shop was open the weekend before, so guessing they'll stay open for a bit still.

Welcome to crappie.com!! I'm farther up state but have heard you can drive to the the White River as it goes thru town,park and walk the shoreline and do pretty good for a variety of species. Never done it so I can't swear to it.

If your are interested in some local bank fishing. Go to forum in SEARCH type in INDIANAPOLIS WHITE RIVER scroll down to WHITE RIVER IS THRIVING. I think that you will find some good info.

well thanks to those who have replied, I went out to eagle creek yesterday, went into the park and tried fishing the bird sanctuary. It was way to shallow anywhere I could reach. Seen some pretty big bass breaking the top of the water but I couldn't reach them. I just want to catch some fish!
