Default Just South of Terre Haute

Went today to a small lake Just South of Terre Haute (Fowler Park Lake) and caught 20 Crappies on Crappie Killer Jigs tipped with a minnow. Used Chart & Red and Hot pink & Chart. They would hit on the fall and remain suspended. Really hard to feel. They ranged from 10"-121/2".
Both Black and White. They now reside in my freezer. :D
This is the same lake that I structured last winter while the ice was on.. I've marked all the trees and brush. Ya'll help yourself. The Papermouths love this natural structure. I knew they would hold on this stuff. The time and effort was sure worth it.

    Default Fowler Lake

I fish the main lake at the park. The one with the old log cabins at the north end.
The wilderness area to the east of the park has a VERY steep ramp and I'm not wild about using it. Back about 30 years ago I taught SCUBA and took my students there for they're checkout divers. Very little structure and "V" slooping banks.

Went again today and caught another 20 keepers. Largest (2) 14", most 10-12. All were in 10'-13' FOW. Again I was using Crappie Killer Jigs (with sickle hooks)tipped with a minnow.

Great job. Fished that lake years ago. Back in the late 60's, my brother and I held a training camp for kids. The local bass club and others helped us. Great little lake.

See you all in the spring.
