Thread: Cataract 10/13

Water temp 61 degrees, stained, and about a foot above summer pool. Crappies had lock jaw today. The locator showed fish bunched up but they were very hard to catch. Ended up fowl hooking several while verticle jigging. Managed a few keepers with a couple of the larger ones donated by billbob as he was looking for those 14 inchers. Almost all fish came on 1/16 oz jigs fishing 12 - 20 feet of water. Cutting board is 10 inches wide for the skeptics out there!

Nice catch, they should be coming on strong if we can get some stable weather.

Nice job BFBOB... Im sure your talking about me being the skeptic but thats ok cause I can be one from time to time.
I know the guy's that were spider rigging and they said the bite was slow still managed to catch several fish but the stained water and the unstable weather from the days before is what had the fish shut down...Best days to come and I can't wait..

Good job on a tough day guys. Like others have said, just too many negative factors coming together at once making for the slow conditions. No relief in the short term but I'll still be going anyway. Best suggestion I can pass along is to counter the bad bite with lots of known holes. We're just running from spot to spot using the GPS, not staying for more than 10 minutes on any one area unless we're getting bit. We seem to pop a couple pretty quick off each hole, then the bite has been drying up. With enough spots though you'll either get your limit one fish at a time, or you'll eventually hit the right hole that has more aggressive fish and catch several.

Nice bunch of fish. I think I seen you there today. I was in the Crestliner when you were fishing near the marine docks. We kept 29 but not all would have been as wide as your cutting board. It was a cold and tough fishing day. But it was good to be out there. Fishinfred

I wish this weather would get settled so I could go. Between doctor appointments and my business, can't find the time. This is the best time of the year to fish Cataract.
