when i hear reports of limits of 15 to 17" crappie on public water in indiana with our growth rates, i'm finding it very hard to believe too. i been reading reports on all the lakes for years, and never saw a picture or heard a report like that. now one or two at 15"+, maybe, but not a limit. i know i but more time on the water than most and usually i'm targeting crappie, on a ton of different lakes in indiana and i never had one day like that. i'm no pro, but that's to hard to believe, unless i see a picture. furthermore, if the guys are from kentucky, thats most likely not their home lake, which makes it even harder to believe. now i do believe a bass minnow may bring bigger crappie, no doubt, but i believe that body of water is T-9's home lake and if he and the other regulars are not catching at least one 15-17" per trip with tubes then i'm doubting it 's possible to get that many in one trip. i'm not taking sides, and have never met T9, but i know a lot of guys that fish with him that are very respectable anglers, and they have never said a bad thing about him. but all in all, with the pressure on our public waters and the growth rate being much slower than the south, science and experience doesnt support the report... but i would love to be proved wrong.

Thanks for the laugh TWB9862. A guy can't win around here. If you don't post pics, people don't believe you (see 8/24 bfBob post). If you do post pics, you're bragging and your fish don't look as big as you say. Tough crowd.

My thoughts are exactly in line with what High Tide posted. Lots of guys catch as many and more crappie, as well as bigger crappie than I do. Just read some of the other Cataract reports on here, like rdant's. I'm sure some of that is because I do restrict myself to using artificials. I just don't like messing with minnows, and the comment I made is just a friendly poke among friends on the board who I fish with or talk to regularly. But I learned from hanging around and fishing with about half a dozen guys on that lake that put in hundreds of hours a year and catch thousands of crappies between them from that lake. Many are out there 3 or 4 times a week year round. When all of them together can only account for just a few fish at or over 15", I find it highly unlikely that anyone, no matter what technique or bait they are using or how many stickers they had on their boat, happened by and caught a double limit of crappies (50 fish) between 15" and 17".

Like High Tide said, I too would be tickled and thrilled to know that that many big fish reside in that lake and could be caught at any given time. Not saying it didn't happen because in fishing, you learn never to say never. But if all I have is an Internet post from someone that "heard a report" such a catch was made, I'm calling BS until proven otherwise.

High Tide and T9 is spot On!!

Not sure what your deal is twb9862. I also laughed when I read your post, sounds like your jealous because didn't catch a livewell full of nice sized crappie. If you can't tell those fish are nice 11-12 inchers, you need to invest in a new computer screen.

I personally know T9 and trust me, he doesn't need to brag to show his performance. He is an awesome fisherman and has takin my money many of time in tourneys. He has spent many hours, days and years fishing and researching several bodys of water in Indiana. He also knows more local and full time fisherman than most of us can even amagine. If there were limits of 15-17" crappie being caught, he would know. very hard to believe it happened.

I caught several limits this year from cataract with not one over 13". My neighbor "SAID" he caught 15-17" crappie this spring. I ask him for pictures, he said he didn't take any. Trust me if I caught crappie like that, everyone would know.

I was in fish cleaning station at cataract couple weeks ago when another fisherman said "everyone this spring was catchin 16-18" crappie" Wouldn't you think if that was true, everyone in indiana and on this site would be braggin with posts and pictures?? I'm on here everyday and I didn't see ONE!

If you have pictures lets see them.

I laughed reading these posts... as my reaction to the Kentucky boys rumor...had nothing to do with the speculative fish size.... but in the back of my mind I was thinking them dang Kentuckians.... I still havent forgiven them for knocking Bobby's 1975 IU team out of the NCAA tourney Then I realize that was 34 years ago and realize I must really be getting old Of course, them boys could be U of L people :D

LMAO!!!!! I knew I would get a rise out of the T-9 worshipers and there are a few on this site. I believe he is capable of defending himself. This board needed a little excitement.

Hey SkeeterJeff.... How many "flippin posts" are required before calling someone out? It's true I don't post often, but have not seen a need. I visit this sight a couple times a week and enjoy viewing recent posts and reports. Please advise on the rules so I know how many posts I need before questioning someones honor. Please take you pills regulary.

Skeeterman1.... no deal, not jealous, just rattling some cages. Thanks for the suggestion, I will get a new "computer screen". That will help judging the size of T-9's fish. LOL

Keep posting T-9!! I enjoy your reports, pictures, and sonar screen shots..u da man! :D

    WOW!!!
Glad I live up north you Southern boys are brutal. There are alot of non-believers up here as well, that's why I carry my camera in my tackle box.I have on occasion told a whopper about where I've caught them.We don't have many large lakes up here so if you give out too much info, your fishin'spot could be taken over by guys who don't have the gumption to look for them theirselves.I've on occasion even thrown out bogus marker buoys and watch em' move in on it.Quite funny.Up here 15"s are bruisers and usually don't get much bigger.Very few places to get the longer whites.Hope you guys still all get along, sounds more like buddies just gettin' after each other, still fun.

    Default It's fishing fellas...

What makes it so great is the repsect, honesty, friendship and relaxation it produces and brings. Settle. You're turning it into every other sport.
Good things come to those who bait.

Come on guys fishing is fun and a little brag here and there is great. I have to agree that limits of 15+ crappie should make headlines here in Indiana. But lets just keep fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Fishinfred
