Default Where to look for them in hot weather?

I am new this year to this crappie fishing thing. Wondering with the warm temps where I should look for the crappie. Is targeting under docks still the place?

I normally target open water with stumps and other structure near creek channels and drop offs during the summer months. Summer is not always a time for large crappie, but it is the time of the year where they feed the most.

Good Luck!

We haver been hitting them at the mouths of feeder creeks on the river and pits. Lots of dinks to sort through. Did manage a few 12 inchers yesterday and an 18 in sauger.

I'm finding them around deeper brush piles 7-15' of water. Having equal luck with tubes and live minnows. If you're not getting hung up and loosing tackle, then you're probably not getting to where the crappie are. Depending upon the day, though, I've found them in 3' or less along the shore. Catching lots of small ones, but quite a few 11-15".
