Default bluegill

Okay, I know this is a crappie forum, but with Summer rolling in, alot of us are fishing for gills too. I was wondering about "fleas" in gills. I can't say that I know what they are. I have heard that they are a problem this year. Is this just one more thing to worry about (like gas prices) or something I can just let go? I have read about aquatic fleas, but still don't know what they are. The only fleas I know are the ones on my dog. Does anyone have any info on this subject?? What do they look like? Will I know if my fish has them? Is it okay to eat the fish that has them? I appreciate any info. As for crappie, I am still catching a few spawning at Missisenewa in about 12 ft of water around the mouths of coves.
