A friend of mine went up Tuesday and said they caught a lot of crappie but they were all dinks.
I'm taking my grandson up in the morning and will post results.

I buy my bait here in Kokomo before I leave. There is someone selling bait right before you turn into the main entrance but I don't know anything about it. Also a place below the dam, a campground with a store called Woody's.

I've had bad luck trying to buy bait when I get to a lake. So I always take mine.

Took grandson (11) and grandaughter (13) to Miss. today. Fished 8 til 12:30.
Crappie was slow they kept 5 over 9", he caught one that went 13". These were caught on minnows fishing about 9' down on a 15 to 20' bank. They also caught a couple 8" dinks there.
It was real slow so I took them to a bluegill spot I knew and they kept 18 of about 30 they caught on B-moth. That action was fast enough for them and they really seemed to enjoy it.
She has always been into fishing but this is the first year he really fished and didn't want to play around. It was fun trying to school him. lol
I really enjoyed watching them too.

Thanks Bob. I went to Knop Lake this morning. 19 gills all 10 to 11". All on crickets, about 4 foot deep.

Hey rdant,
Man I would really like to get into some 10" gills. Did you put a boat in or just shore fish?
I've never seen Knop before, is it big enough to handle a 17' deep V.

I used my 12' flat bottom. There was a guy there in a kayak and 2 guys with a 2 man plastic boat. it has a concrete ramp. If it were me, I would drive over and check it out. Once you got it in, I don't think you would have any problems. But loading and unloading could be. Just west of Edna Mills take county rd 900w about 3 miles to 650s, look for Knop sign on left on 650. About a mile from corner of 900 and 650. I fished the far side from the ramp, just past a small cove on that side.

Thanks rdant, sounds like it's pretty tight. I might talk a friend into going over he has a 12' V and I have an extra el trolling motor we can put on it.
If I go I will let you know.
Thanks a bunch,
Bob

I've always had good luck with woody's bait, but not so much with the bait shop at the entrance to the campground/ramp on 500.

Haven't fished Miss for awhile now. Last time was night fishing either a week or two ago and caught a few but nothing over 10" mostly 8" crappie and a few gills about 6-7". All on minnows.
