Personally, I drag jigs in mainly 3-12 FOW on flats near deep water. Also watch the transition from shallow flats to deep water. Indiana 'eyes tend to hold on these transition breaks if they are not up on the flats actively feeding. I'm hearing of a lot of fish being caught on Brookville in 2-3 FOW. It's hard to believe, but I've done it there before. Also, if you have a lot of wave action on the lake and it creates a mud line near the bank on one of these flats, do not hesitate to throw a jig up in the mud line and drag it out. Use 1/8 or 1/16 oz jigs and half a crawler or a leech. Road Runners work well sometimes. Colors vary from red, orange, chartreuse, and even black or brown.
The key is to trust your electronics. If you aren't marking fish on the flats, look at the transition ledges, or in deeper water. Slow drag the jigs, .3 to .7 mph.
Hope that helps. I am no expert on walleye fishing in Indiana, but I catch my fair share in Canada each year. It's totally different up there. We fish 1/8 oz jigs vertical, 3" to 6" off of the bottom, back trolling. Last year my best was 8# 8 oz, 29.5" long. We head up there again in six weeks, and I can't wait!
