Default I'm going to eat these with my crappie!!!

Wow, did I find them today!!!! LOL!!! Can I freeze some? How do you effectively do that? I found these 20 in about 45 minutes. It was a blast and great to see some. They weren't all around the same tree. I don't know what an Elm looks like so I'm not sure. A lot of walnut trees in this area. I ending up stepping on the biggest one before I saw it!!

mike you can freeze them just after you clean them. vacume packing is best but mine never last long enough to warent that. lol make sure to cut out the bad spots just as you would to eat them. i had about 20 for breakfast this morning, yummy.

Mike, I have been freezing mushrooms for years. I personally like to lightly dedge them in egg and milk, then into white cornmeal. I take the mushrooms and put them on wax paper and place them in the freezer, on a cookie sheet with plastic wrap over them. Once they freeze put them in a plastic ziplock. I have eaten mushrooms the following February that I found the year before. There is no better way then fresh, but this is close. It has been a great year for morels in central indiana. I am heading to Cadillac and Messick MI area tomorrow - Sunday to hopefully get in on some more. God Bless handheld GPS! Great tool for marking mushroom and fishing spots!
