Default Night Bite

Due to time obligations (family and work) night time is often best for me to fish. However, I have little experience fishing after dark. Do specs bite after sundown? Any tips to catching 'em after dark? Thanks.

yes they do, lights help out a bunch it draws in the bait fish and the crappie will follow. some guys push the floating head light out about 10' from the boat (in the summer) to keep the bugs away, now some old timers tell me to get a glass quart jar and put some some small holes in the top of them and put a few minnows in it and put it by your light you can also do this by tying it up to structure and comming back to it in 30mins to an hour I havnt done this yet but it makes sense

Mid to Late summer I like to use a green submersible light. I usually submerse it 1 - 2 feet and fish 8-12 feet deep. The light draws in the plankton, the plankton draws in the minnows, and the minnows draw in crappie.

Visit the SC boards and ask away. When it comes to night fishing those guys know their stuff. They have already done all the research that makes it nice on somebody taking up nightfishing so they dont have to go thru all the trial and error of buying equipt. that doesnt fit the bill. Most any question that you may have about nightstalking can be answered there.

i wind drift a lot at night with nothing but 14 to 16 foot cane poles. place your boat were the wind is pushing straight against the rear rig your poles with minnows and drift .try different depths till you get a bite then move your other poles to match all i use is two propane lanterns on front and one rear turned were they don't blind me i put 4poles out each side .trust me if you find them circle around and go threw them again
