Not a great day today. Fished all the spots I thought they would be from shallow to deep, and I was wrong. It was 41 deg. when we got there, felt like 31, guess my bones are not ready for the cold. Wind picked up, and I think I hit every stump in the lake, ended up breaking my new powerdrive tm. Finally started drifting minnows and pink and white popeyes and started getting them. Ended up with around 30 but only had a couple good fish. Never have I caught so many small fish at Hardy. Missed a few real good thumps, but lots of small fish. I think we could have done alot better, but every time we caught one, the wind pushed me away from my spot. Kinda hard to get around with broke tm anyway. Had high hopes for todays outing.......Hope you guys did better than me!

Hang in there Locator. That's the double edge sword down there at Hardy...those submerged stumps can hold some really nice fish, but get a strong wind up, and chop on the water where you can't see them, and a real recipe for TM disaster.... not that I have ever done that

Just bought replacement parts, ran about 100 bucks, guess it could have been worse. Its been an expensive year for me. Had to repace a tm, now this, replace pretty much my entire lower unit, and had to replace a graph. My wife doen't seem to understand, she asks "Why don't you just take up golf". I say "Why can't you just wear one pair of shoes". Oh well, its part of it. Hardy always produces great fish for me, I'll be back at em' this weekend!

I'm going to try Hardy either Friday or Saturday for some redear and maybe crappie. I've caught some nice big redears out of there this year, thick and healthy looking fish.

Redear, you might try for suspended gills out in fast side near slow marker bouys. We used to kill them in the first week of October using a drifting technique ... tightlining with # 6 / 8 aberdeen hook, splitshot, and using crickets or or wax worms. Adjust your weight depending on how fast wind is blowing . Put out three rods and experiment with diff weights. When you catch more on one combination...switch other lines to same weight. Be prepared to adjust as wind increases/ calms. When you drift thru a hotspot, motor back around and drift thru again and again. Of course, this technique doesn't work unless there is wind. I havent tried with worms...but probably would pick up redear if near bottom using this same technique. Be prepared for the moment all 3 rods go down at once
