    Default Reelfoot help?

My nephew wants to go to Reelfoot in the next couple of weeks and doesn't know anything about the lake. When is the best time to go for crappie? Which end of the lake should he go to? What is the best package going? Are the snakes active right now? Thanks for any help you can give him.

Going myself April 1, 2, 3. Have been going for about 5 years now. Can't beat Boyette's resort to stay at if they have openings. Bait shops, food, etc. is all close, and plenty of boat ramps close as well. Kirby's pocket is a popular place to go, but action is fairly good anywhere if you catch the weather right. that seems to be the big key. A simple cold front or wind can shut it down. Happened to me the last two years, but food and hospitality made up for it.

Hey Mark... Best time to fish Reelfoot is the fall...yep the fall. April is best during the spring. I would start in the north part of the lake, because it will heat up faster because it's shallow.
All the motels offer there package deals, and there pretty much the same. I would pick one on the lake close to where I was gonna fish, and not have ride across the lake if the wind is bad, which is most of the time...lol
Get you a guide and fish one day then you'll know where to fish and how. The guides are no that expensive at Reelfoot and you will learn all about the lake. If you want a guide call Bo's Landing Bait Shop and he can get you lined up.
    Good Luck....crappie cowboy

I think its all in how lucky u are with the weather when u get down there. Last year my father in law, brother in law and myself had to fish around Green Island along with everyone else on the lake. It snowed 5in just a few days before we went down. We love to fish Kirbys pocket but it has to be a little warmer. We are staying at a place called Mallard Point Lodge. Its not a place where you have breakfast cooked for you or anything, but its cheap and nice. 80bux a night to sleep 5-6 people.

Made my first trip last year on the spur of the moment. We fished the washout for a little bit before hitting the main lake. Fished out of Kirby's pocket and did rather well. Cold front came through that night and the next morning was a bit tougher but still ended up with 19 that were bigger than any I catch around here. We went in early April. We stayed at the Reelfoot Inn. No boat rentals but did have plugs to charge batteries at every room

Weve Came Down A Few Times During The Last Week Of March And Always Stay At Gray's Camp On The Upper Blue Basin... Like The Above Posts If You Catch The Weather Right You'll Do Fine.. The Wind Plays A Factor But I Like The North End Because There Are Places To Get Out Of The Wind.. You Can Head Over To Allens Opening- Have Done Good Over There On Occasion... John Fagan Who Owns Grays Will Take You Out If You Want A Guided Trip... Hes Always Treated Us Good And Has Gone Out Of His Way A Couple Times To Help Us Out...headed To Kentucky Lake The End Of March This Year, But Will Be Down At Grays From May 2nd-7th And May 27th - 30th To Go After The Gills...
