Thread: Rend Monday - Questions

Going to Rend Monday. Where can a guy get minnows on the north end this time of year. Also, how deep are the fish holding?

Anybody ever fish Mermet?

fish we caught the other day were in 8-10 ft. of water. don't know about minnows we used jigs.

same here went out Thursday last and was in 8 10 ft water...3/4 to 1 1/2 pounders...

I cant think of anywhere that has minnows this early around the lake. Cookseys is open year round but they are on Rt 148 down at Crab Orchard. I think most of the guys do fine with jigs.

Yube jigs? Grizzlies? Any specific color?

BP gas station @ Whittington (jct hwy154 & 37) normally has minners. Another bait shop further south on hwy 37 too I think. Take lots money.

Mermet still closed for waterfowl.

We used southern pro no certain color.

I missed this post sorry but if you decide to go again soon and are coming from the Centralia area stop by Rend Lake Sporting Goods in Mt. Vernon they always have minnows. Or at least call them first.

As far as Mermet I would not waste my time going. They sprayed the lake last year and killed all the lillys and there is not as much cover just a few cypress trees. You can go to another lake such as Rend, Kinkaid or Crab and catch more fish. If I was going to drive the distance to Mermet I would just go on over to Reel Foot or KY Lake.
