The bass fishing is beginning to pick up. Good sacks of fish are being
weighed in at the local tournaments.
The main pattern is fishing in the open water casting for roamers looking
for shad. This is not a very exciting way to fish but effective.
Patience is a must with this pattern. Getting 5 to 10 bites in 8 hours
doesn't seem great, but seems to produce good quality.

Baits of choice are Jerk-baits, Hawg Caller Spinnerbaits , and Lipless
Crankbaits for this pattern.
Make long casts and work the baits slow.

Another pattern that is beginning to work is a Shakey Head, rigged with a
small soft plastic of your choice in green pumpkin or watermelon.
Bottom contact is a must with a slow retrieve.

The crappie bite is up and down, one day you wack'em, the next day you
don't. This is fishing.
This is due to all the frontal changes we have this time of year.
A few more weeks and temps should stabilize a little more.
This will keep the fish pushed up.

I have been using a 1/8 ounce curly tail grub on 4lb Vicious Panfish Line
in 2 - 8ft of water.
A slow retrieve is a must.
I have recently boated a 15 inch Crappie that weighed 2.07 and my friend
boated a 15-1/4 inch. Crappie that went 2.22 lb.
These are true slabs.
