joewildlife's post on How Many Rods raised some interesting discussion.
Do you ever spider rig in IL or out of state? I do...we go to TN a number of times each year and I enjoy slow vertical trolling with usually four rods, because that's about all I can handle. Sometimes I'll push it up to 6 rods. My boat is rigged with two Driftmasters that hold 4 rods each, but I just can't deal 8 rods at once.
On IL lakes, I'm limited to two or three rods, depending on the lake regs. The questions I'd like to pursue are 1) What difference does it make how many rods a guy fishes as long as the creel limit is obeyed? and 2) Would you spider rig or fish more rods if you could in IL?

You don't know if you don't go.
I live in Illinois and my Ranger is set up with dual seats up front and 6 rod holders and a single seat and 4 holders in back. If it were legal here , I would go to the trouble to add a couple more up front, but if they are biting, 4 can be a handful.
MAN, I can't wait.
I Agree If You Obey The Creel Limit Who Cares How You Catch Them.. My Boat Is Set Up With Two Driftmasters That Hold Four Poles Each In The Front And One In The Back.. We Hit Kentucy Lake And Reelfoot In The Spring And Usually Spider Rig The Whole Time Unless The Wind Is A Bear Or The Fish Is Shallow... It Amazes Me Seeing Those Guys At The Foot By Themself With 10 To 14 Poles Out Spider Rigging... I Usually Do Four To Six With Capps And Coleman Rigs Most Of The Time And Thats Enough Work For Me.. Ive Tried Eight And It Just Leads To Headaches And Work.. When I Fish I Want Time To Drink A Beer And Enjoy Myself... I Stick To 12 And 14 Footers.. I See Some Of Those With 16 Poles And We Tried One And It Was Way To Akward...
Like I posted on the "How many rods?" thread I agree with all you guys!! I spoke with alot of guys about this and almost everyone I talk to agrees. This is one of the states worst laws as far as fishing goes. I'm not the kind of guy were I would like to troll every time I go out fishing but I think we should be able to do it right when we choose to troll. I'ts a good way to get suspended crappie in open water on a lake with very little cover in them!! I think if everyone obeys the creel limits that should be good enough but that is just my opinion!:D

i spider rig in tournaments out of state, but not in Illinois.... Illinois still has not caught up with the times. Creel limit should be the only thing that matters anyway.
