    Default hand held gps units

I've Got A Friend Looking For A Hand Held Gps Unit. I've Got An Old Magellan That Works Pretty Good. Does Anybody Have Any Suggestions For Newer Models? I've Heard That The Lowrance H20 Is A Good Model. Any Suggestions?

I have the Garmin eTrex Vista Cx

, it's a nice little hand held that fits nicely in the palm. It appears to hold its value as well, I bought mine almost 2 years ago for $208, it's now $212. Downside, the preinstalled maps do not have the topography lines. Otherwise, it gets a person pretty close to their brush. In addition, I use in the car for long trips as well. Not as nice as the car units, but again it does the job nicely for me.

Right now on Ebay, you can get a Magellan Sportrak Map that includes a swivel boat mount, data cable, and 12 volt power cord for $85.00. They are advertised as new but I'm not sure that's possible since they have been discontinued for several years. They are great units, easy to use, 500 waypoints, double A batteries.
