Neat story I wanted to share. Today I went over to the boat show in St Louis and as I was walking through the resort section I noticed Denny Brauer sitting in one of the Reelfoot Lake booths. Wasnt too many people around so I struck up a conversation. I just wanted to say that Mr. Brauer is as friendly of guy as you would want to meet. We talked for about 20 minutes and I got the feeling I could have sat there and talked another hour and he would not have cared. We talked about bassin at Reelfoot...Lake Amistad in Texas (I had read an article in BASS mag. and asked him about it)...and those big bass down in mexico (he gave me a phone number of a guy to help set me up if I ever decided to go). We also talked about his place at Lake of the Ozarks along with a few fishing stories. He talked about spotting a 12 pounder spawning in 25 feet of water in Lake Amistad and trying forever to drop a finesse lure on top of that bed from 25 feet above without spooking the fish. Said he never could get his bait to quite land squarly on that bed after trying over and over and over so he never did catch that fish. Finally a couple of people came by the booth so I shook his hand and went on. Sometimes when you come across someone notworthy you hope they arent a jerk because your image of them would be ruined. Denny didnt ruin a thing for me. On my way home I started thinking...this is a guy whos won the bassmasters classic...been on Letterman twice....and even made a Wheaties box! I also kept thinking that Ive met local club tournament guys 100 times more arrogant than him. So theres a lesson in all of this somewhere for those guys! Good experience...glad I went.
I met some nice people down at Grizzly jigs show a few weekends ago and for the most part the pros that was there were awesome and friendly, but there was one pro crappie fisherman that i was disappointed in and I will never by another rod with his name on it.
I agree 100% i havemet Denny several times, he used to be sponsered by Lunker Lure and was in Southern Ill some and was always a nice guy. I to was at the Grizzly show and I thought most of the pros were nice but there was definitely one pro who was arrogant I don't know if we were speaking of same guy or not but I won't by any thing with his name on it ever.
I was at the boat show as well talked to two guy at the grizzly booth they were very nice guys, myself and a buddy both bought a a new 10' rod from them. very nice people hope to run into them again.

yeah...can somebody send me a PM too and give me the story. Id like to hear about it.
Ye who is it? If U think posting his initials might give away his whole name than just post his last name & we will guess at his first?:D
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
I was at the Grizzly Bash also, and the man yall are speaking of was very nice to me. Ive talked to him before by email and must say he was very polite and professional.
I am not taking up for him, just speaking of my experience with him.
If you need a tip replacement, which I did, Grizzly Jig has them and Bo's Landing Bait Shop at Reelfoot Lake has them also.
They was the same color, but don't have the same feel...no doubt a generic, but it saves a pole.
