Wanted to crappie fish with my son, but I didnt want to get shot by duck hunters. Fished from my pier and caught some nice cats instead.

The ducks have not been flying and alot of duck hunters have not been hunting the last week or so. No shooting so far this morning. I hope you catch and release, especially, the big cats.

Duck hunters were out shooting yesterday morning by me. And yes Redtick, I did practice catch and release with the catfish.

there are so many stinkin channels in that lake it actually needs to be thinned out some.

There's also a bunch of bullhead.

Birdy, wrong. It takes years for some of the big catfish to get big and it would take years to replace them. I could fish out the big cats in a couple of months if I wanted to work at it. I catch and release anything over 5 pounds. I turn back alot of smaller ones also but some go to fish fries.
