    Smile Alternative To Crappie Fishing

Here is a clip of me and a buddy training our squirrel dogs. It is not crappie fishin' but a lot of fun. He and I catch our share of crappie and catfish in the summer.

Dave - I do some squirrel hunting, but without dogs. What breed or breeds of dogs make the best squirrel hunters? Hunting with dogs appears to be a lot of fun.

Ken, if you are strictly meat hunting, squirrel hunting with out dogs can be better. But, we love the dog work and the fun of missing the squirrels in front of your buddies. You may know Ivan, he is from Mattoon. His name is Ivan Elder. He is 75 years old.

There are several types of dogs that make good squirrel dogs but Feists are small, make good pets for the family, and are fairly easy to train. You can find out all the information about squirrel dogs at Welcome to Squirrel Dog Central

My squirrel hunting buddies are on that site like my crappie buddies are on this site.

X-man, sometimes I attend some competition squirrel dog hunts that are held near the Nasson ramp on Rend. It looks to be great crappie fishing around there.

That is one of the better areas to crappie fish on the lake. Lots of stumps and the Big Muddy runs through there. And in the spring there is a ton of Buck Brush to fish during the spawn.

    Thumbs up

It sure looks good crappie fishin' to me. And, I'll bet there are some big flatheads in the area also. We hunt other parts of the Big Muddy in that area. Maybe I will let you know the next time we are trialing our squirrel dogs in the area and you can bring your boy and check it out.
