This a picture of me and Babe Winkleman at last weekends Bloomington fishing show. We had to do a seminar together and boy is he long winded, I got little input in. I have a challenge for you guys on the board. I can't really find out anything about East Fork Lake in Ohio. Any of you ever fish there. The Region Three Crappie U.S.A. regional is going to be held there and If I qualify I will be going and spending a week. The bookings for my guide service have just been piling up. I have over thirty booked thus far. Will be down at Kentucky lake twice in March, first weekend and last to fish Region One qualifier then it is business as usual at home. Four ten's doing heat and air service and three ten's guiding on Lake Shelbyville, throw in three tourneys and a regional then my spring is done. Then on the white bass/ buffalo/walleye/catfish trips all summer. This year with the limit changing I will even do some summer crappie trips. Lots to look forward too. See you guys on the water. Ken you gettin any on that south end. They're pulling lake hard just wondering if it is worth the drive.
Hey LSG, you look a little nervous there. I bet he is a nice guy. Did you two set a date and time for you to show him how to catch some crappie?

Babe and I did get to talk about crappie fishing as he said he loves to crappie fish more than just about anything. He said that Red Lake in Minnesota was the best crappie fishing in the world. I begged to differ Kentucky Lake isn't too shabby.....
I watch a lot of fishing shows on the outdoor channels on TV. Ole Babe is not the crappie fisherman that some of the others seem to be. In my opinion, he could use some good crappie fishing tips. I like the Lindner's fishing shows for crappie. Those boys are right on, they give good information. They used to own the In-Fisherman shows and magazine. Their new shows are better than the current In-Fisherman shows. Jimmy Houston does a lot of crappie shows but he is always fishing Road Runners and doesn't give much information. I think the Midwest Crappie Show that Russ does is the best crappie fishing show with the best information.. Maybe you should do a crappie fishing show or DVD. I have hunting dog DVDs and have checks in the mail from folks wanting them almost daily.
dont get me started on jimmy houston now.. i wouldnt put it past him to have divers putting fish on hooks after his little deer hunting escapade
Redtick Russ and I have tried two or three times to do a show and our schedules just don't mesh. He always seams to want to come and do a show just before a Crappie U.S.A. qualifier or regional on Lake Shelbyville and I am very guarded during that time frame. I want to do a fall / winter show with him so we will have to see. I concour that fishing shows don't relate to crappie fishing that well and up north where Babe and the Linder's live has little to do with how we fish for crappie as we don't fish weeds. I did once see an In-Fisherman show and they were fishing on Lake Dardenelle in northwest Arkansas. Throwing slip corks into cypress trees. Funny watching them standing on the top of the high-sided Lund and trying to haul those big crappie over the four-foot high sided boat. Bass boats sure work better for flipping corks. Anyway I have a buddy who goes there every spring and the fish are every bit as big as those big hogs they get on Grenada in Mississippi
hey LSG thanks for the chat at the bloomington show. have a quick question for you. Have you or anyone know when they are putting the xmas trees in shelbyville this year. Cause the Dnr or Corps havent sent me anything on it and tody drove by Howies station and the pile was gone.
Hey, Steve shout at me before you come to Ky lake wish i could help on Eastfork never been on that one.
Take a kid fishing
I always notice on Babe's shows that he's holding a stainless steel travel coffee mug when he's doing the inside shots by fireplace. I mean EVERY SINGLE EPISODE he's there with that mug.
And now I see LSG's pic at the show and what's Babe holding, the same darn cup?!?!?! What's in that mug, does Babe sleep with it and how many of those does he go through in a year??? Does his wife Chris have a matching mug???
I'm intrigued now more than ever. :D
