I'm just dying to go fishing but I am stuck in my office now, so I thought I could get some good adivice from those who know a lot more than I do about white bass fishing.
I usually fish for crappie all year long but during some of the hotter months I like to do some white bass fishing. Sometimes I can see them chasing shad on top of the water on shallow flats and can catch them throwing a spoon or about anything for that matter. When they are suspended over a ledge I can only catch them by trolling crankbaits across them. This poses two problems. First, gas is expensive and picking up two or three bass in a 100yd strech is pretty costly. Second, the place i like to catch them is a rather high traffic area. I have had people also just pull right up in the little area that I troll and drop anchor right in front of me while I am trolling.![]()
So how do you catch them when they seem suspended over a ledge? It would be great if I could just pull up and anchor and catch them while saving money and frustraition from the trolling.

jigs man.. if you can get right over the school drop a doule jig rig on em, you can load up like that.. or get yourself a trolling motor
