    Default Shelbyville area ice??

Was wondering if anyone has any reports on how much ice is on area ponds in central Illinois. The lake has lots of ice, but also open areas still.
    Thanks for any info!

I was ice fishing on a friends pond last weekend around Charleston. There was really only about 2-2.5 inches of ice. Not really enough to get on for a guy my size (300lbs) but my buddies and I pushed a jon boat onto the ice and sat in it while we fished. I should get some pics back soon and I will post them. It was pretty funny. We had a rope stretched across the pond sitting in our lap while we were sitting in the boat, just in case. We caught a bucket full of bluegill, they really seemed to be biting on wax worms and some small jigs.

I would expect that there is more ice this weekend than last weekend. But I am very weary of the ice, i never go on it without a quick out such as the rope. But i guess thats half the fun.

hey shonn, there was about 2.5-3 inches on Charleston Country Club last weekend. I would suspect about 6-8 this weekend easily. But no ice is safe ice i guess you could say just to be safe

Thanks guys for the info. I've never been ice fishing and would like to give it a try. I've got a pond back where I grew up (about an hour from here) that is killer for bluegills all summer long, I'd like to get some through the ice some time. I have to admit I'm a little leary to get out on the ice though! If any of you need an extra pair of hands to help reel 'em in, let me know!
Fishman-I had to laugh just picturing you guys out there! haha Can't wait for those pics..

    Thanks again!

Tyler-how's your BB season going? My boys ended up 18-3. Lost in the regional final to a team that we beat twice in the regular season. Reg. was at their place. Hard to be a team 3 times...
