Lake Newton
Has anyone been out there lately? I was thinking about doing some shore fishing from there this weekend. Does the water there freeze? If anyone can give me some pointers (i am shore bound) it would be great.
stay warm.

Havent been out there lately...I do know that the hot water side im pretty sure stays open year around. But maybe somebody else is positive about it. What will you be fishing for? I usually do really really good on catfish down there in the coves!!!

This time of year I will be fishing for what ever I can catch. I would love to catch some crappie but that might be asking too much. If I catch anything, other than frostbite, I will be very happy!!!

I have caught a few nice crappie on Newton, but I agree with birdman. Catfish is the way to go. Shad guts or liver on any point or in any cove will produce a bunch of nice eaters....good luck. There is a dock on the warm water side that you can fish from, I have seen several people there while i was in a boat. With this cold weather the plant should be running strong.

I dont think Newton is a noteworthy crappie lake unless its changed over the past few years. At one point they couldnt seem to even shock one up...but that was 5 or 6 years ago.
