Went out to L.Mattoon today with the boat and truck loaded down with christmas trees and concrete blocks. Had 8 trees and dumped them all in one spot about 20x20 on a drop that goes from 7-15 foot almost straight down. Looks amazing on the graph. We cant wait to fish em this spring!!!![]()
While out we wet a line and got 6 nice keepers off of a brush pile and called it a day, threw them back while trollin in to the rampBiggest was 12.5 inches and the smallest 9.75. Water was 39.9 to 40.0 all day!!!!

birdman, nothing wrong with a day like that! Family, brushpiles, and crappie!!Ha! At least you guys didn't have to get out the ice skates up there today. Looks like the water is about 5-7 degrees warmer down here. Always wondered how much temp difference there was! Good job man!!:D

Frank- I wasnt worried one bit. Saw 4 boats all day including us but none when we were dropping them. Although it would have been quite humerous going by and seeing two people glued together with x-mas trees all around them:D
John- I dont think the though of the DNR even crosses our mind. Dad and his buddies and now Dad and I have been making about 10 brush piles every winter on both shelbyville and mattoon for the last 20 years and never been caught or questioned, just thanked by the other fisherman that catch their limits off of them(knock on wood we dont get caught now) We have a GPS but only use it for when we go to Rainy Lake in Canada every year. We mark all our brush with visual stuff on bank...sneaky sneaky!

Hey birdman, I'm glad to see you and your dad doing something together you both like to do. Thats what its all about, building a few condo's and come back in a few months and collect the rent... Nice catch to.
