Thread: Lake Mattoon 12/27!

Father and I decided to go to mattoon today and it payed off. There was ice on half of one of the banks we wanted to fish to we fished another side and first spot didnt get a nibble were thinkin..."here we go again!" Next spot we decide to throw some bobbers to them over the brush...produced 8 dinks. Next spot was some brush RIGHT on the drop 8 then to 16 foot of water...MONEY!!!! 14 keepers later we looked over and ice was gone from the spot we really wanted to fish...only had about 30 minutes left to fish so marked the brush and first cast BAM keeper 8 keepers later it was time to go with the fish still hungry 22 keepers total 9.75 being the smallest all the way up to 12 inches!!!! Ton better then yesterday

nice bunch there.... i just hope this weather decides to do something one way or the other i hate this 50 degree 1 day 25 at night the next crap right now..

Hey Birdman looks like y'all were sweep-en up today, nice mess of fish. What color work the best for you. The bobber trick will work when nothing else will. Friend of mine had been catch en some nice crappie on Mattoon four or five days ago, but he said he went by the lake on Christmas day and it was frozen over. Said he did shovel the ramp off the days he was fishing after the snow we had. Now thats a die hard crappie fisherman. No fishing for me today, have to rest up for tomorrow:D

fishfryed- I was using yellow and chartruese and dad was using black and chartruese...they were producing what seemed like equal amounts of fish.

eat, sleep, fish- We had to brake some ice today to get to em but were gonna stay on them. At x-mas 4 family members came to me asking for more crappies for their familys! I said no problem, guess I gotta actually keep some now!!!

Don't know how next year is looking yet, our motor is BARELY and i mean BARELY running, it sounds and looks horrible...Im not likein the sounds of it anyone got an x-tra seat in their boat???!!!! lol
