Redtick, where are you getting interest on money...I,thought a guy had to pay the banks to take your money nowa days!!!! Hope everyone has a good day fishin, I am still in hybernation mode!
I am NOT going to go into my personal finances much, it is none of your buisness. I will say Frances Gail and I still put money into savings every month. And, being old time savers, there were some good deals folks could take advantage of in the past. We both made some good deals that are still paying off.
About small Jons, I have been dumped enough in them to know of their dangers. I was lucky I didnt drown. When buying Jons, go deep and wide. You will be a lot safer.
Birdy, some of my pension money came from helping build Lakeland College. I did a lot of work on Lakeland and some work on EIU back in the day. When I went to Lakeland, our classes were held at some of the local Churchs, the campus was not built yet. We did have winning sports teams then. LOL.
I wish I would have taken more Audio-Video editing classes back when I went to school. There is good money to be made off of selling fishing videos over the Internet these days. The future of fishing shows will be on the Internet. I do a lot of video with my hunting dogs but I plan to leave the fishing video to others.
Redtick...just joking on the interest question...I have no interest in your finances...it does seem very difficult to get any appreciable interest these days. Birdman...here is a good example of how easy it can be to be misunderstood. I did not expect my interest on money question to be taken as anything other than a joking question on the economy. Getting even a one percent return on a passbook savings is unheard of.
Redtick if you took it as a serious question that was not my intent...have a good day!
I am going to checkout the lowe roughneck 1655...I like the setup of the boat from the pictures...Has a boat pedstal in the middle of the boat..Plus, looks like it has a lot of storage room up front on the deck...Does anyone know what the price is on this roughneck 1655?...Just the boat...I have a 25hp engine already hand tiller..
I was thinking that roughneck 1455 would be a good option for me..But, it is just 14ft and 7inches long..Just not sure if that is going to be a long enough boat for me?...

I am very thick skinned when it comes to message boards. This board is a tame board as compared to some boards I post on.
We made some deals a long time ago that are still paying . Young folks like Birdy should plan ahead. They may not have the oportunities some of us Old Timers had. There may not be the retirement oportunities availible in the future. A fellow may have to be creative.
I reckon a guy could Google Jon Boats and find some real good deals on the Internet.
I agree with that. All of you just getting into your working life, should definitely plan ahead. The sooner you can put regular deposits into your future, the better. A little bit per year, put aside in your early years, can add up by the time you retire. And, yes, there is risk, but not investing in your future is the worst risk.
jcd,
Try craigslist -- different cities---lot of boats this time of year.
