rick and I and the girlfriends sun went out yesterday and had three limits. water temp was about 50 when we start and 55 when we left. plant still isn't running yet. most fish caught in the 12 to 10 foot range. caught alot more females then ealier this week. males still haven't started to change color yet but these fish are fattening up. the trick seemed to be to use the big motor to find schools of shad the find brush near by. no shad no fish in the areas we fished. we did venture up into 4 to 6 foot of water just before we left in the evening and got a few nice fish but not like when the plant was running.

Slayer, I am hitting Sanchris tomorrow morning for my first outing... I fished it 3 times last year and had trouble finding much depth with cover... I would appreciate any of your thoughts on where to fish... I have only launched at the ramp by the dam... Also, is Kates bait shop still open for minnows? Or can you recommend a bait shop close to the lake? I appreciate your input! Thanks!

Tracker, Kates bait is open, but I don't know how early she does, great gal. Her # use to be 1-217-498-8508. If plant is running the east ramp by the dam, the water temp runs around 54 to 55 degrees, look for brush on the points in that area 5 to 7 feet of water. As you're leaving the ramp the 2nd cove to the south just outside the bouys has some nice lay down trees with deep water and some piles out in front of them. If it is 48 there try to find brush in 10 to 12 feet. Hope this helps Rick

Slayer, for some reason I never received your PM... To give you an update I fished Sangchris last Monday. Launched boat at east ramp and within 3 flips had one that was a quarter inch short of 10. Second fish in the boat was barely a keeper. The next 15 or so were scattered out over the next 5 hours and were all between 9 1/2" and 9 15/16". A few bass thrown in there along the way but it was a bit disappointing but so much fun to be out on the boat fishing... If you get a chance slayer, resend your message as I am interested in any info I can get on this lake... Good Luck All!!!!

    Fishnforever,

Wanted to say thanks for the tips! As I posted above, it was a great time but never got into any big action... All our fish were caught in about 2 to 3 feet of water. Kept backing out deeper hoping for some bigger fish a bit deeper but had no luck. Maybe next time!!! Had any luck yourself lately? Let me know! BTW Kates opened on the 12th! We went to Pana for minnows so it all worked out!!! GOOD LUCK FRIEND!!!

I hope you are not using a 25HP motor at Evergreen. They are a 10HP limit lake. Sucks but true. Got caught running my 25 but let me off because I lost my battery and it was the only way back.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
