Had some fun in Crab Orchard this weekend. Had to work at it a little bit to get my bearings straight because it was my first time on this lake, but, once I found a pattern it seemed to come together. It was absolutely beautiful on the lake besides the pesky wind. Here are some pics from the trip. Hope you enjoy!![]()

Great job DKB. I may have seen you. Were you sitting off that submerged point over on the south side for along time in a bass boat with another guy? Dont know if that was you but i can see you are on a bass boat with a butt seat which matches the boat I saw. I caught several...but I think I only came home with 23. Had trouble finding the big fish yesterday.
Nope. That was not me.....I was in a 17ft Lowe aluminum bass boat with a 25 Evinrude on it. My wife was with me. I think we did really well for our first time on the lake. I had a tough time finding fish in the morning but as soon as I located some wood things started heading in the right direction. Had lots of fun. We will be back!

Sure looks like you had some great fish!!! How big was your biggest? Id say you did real good for your first time out for sure!

To tell you the truth......I didn't measure these fish. I was so busy staying on top of the brush with the trolling motor. It was pretty windy. I would imagine that the fish in the first picture is anywhere from 1lb. 1/2 - 1lb. 3/4. Had several of these too! This lake is beautiful. I really enjoyed fishing here. I talked to CP prior to fishing the lake and he let me in on a couple of pointers and they paid off well. It just took me awhile to find the types of locations that he was explaining to me. Once I did.....It was all fun from there. Don't get me wrong. I like the challenge of the hunt. Keeps you coming back.

I think I still saw you...did you have a cooler on the front deck of your boat? At around 11:30 I was on a brush pile off a point over on the south side and I think you were idling around in that same area looking for structure. You idled by a couple of times and headed back east toward piney point. Had a woman in the passenger seat. I think you were also on the ramp at dusk when I pulled in. Looked like a Lowe with a whitish color and a stipe down the side?
That was me! I even commented to my wife how quick you located structure. That is kind of how I found some spots. I just idled around until I got lucky. Kind of the "blind squirrel" method. Man I wish I would have known that it was you.

Looks like you had a good day , I was there saturday and only managed to catch mostly dinks in the brush!! The wind was whipping a bit, but can not beat 70 degree weather in November!!!
I often wander if boats that pass by are crappie.com members. But there is no way to know since there are many boats and you have no way of knowing who is who. Where you saw me there is a pretty large pile of stuff sitting right on the west drop off of that point. Its a good spot. Sometimes its full of nice ones...and other times its full of little ones. Saturday it was mainly little ones. Glad you had a good day...and glad I helped you out on what to look for.
Are you using GPS for these locations? That is one thing that I wished that I had was my GPS on Sunday. I use a handheld and forgot it at home, therefore, I did not get a mark on the spots I found. BUT....I did get some landmark locations on the spots. I left a couple of times and came back to make sure I could find them again. It was not problem. I'll get them marked next time.
