Post EIU Hunting & Fishing Club

There are some EIU students, including myself, trying to form and Hunting and Fishing Club at Eastern Illinois University. One main interest of the club is in trying to fish on the FLW as a recognized college and also trying to fish other tournaments. If anyone has any information or would like to help us out in anyway please respond here. It would be much appreciated.

Currently there are about 25 kids that attended the first couple meetings, and we expect that number to increase as word gets out about the group. If anyone has Facebook, we have a group name EIU Fishing and Hunting Club.

Here is a photo from the recent catch at a private pond by Neoga. It was the second outting for the group, had only a few show up, but caught some nice fish and had a good time. Any suggested fishing holes around East Central Illinois for the group, without boat use, would be much appreciated. Many of the group members are still learning how to fish. As any fisherman knows, getting the fever for fishing can be fueled by catching numbers of fish.

    Thank You

Lake Charleston is good for crappie while fishing from shore.

cjay - Happy to hear you fellows over at EIU are trying to get a club going. Western Illinois University has had a fishing club now for a couple of years. Here is their website.
    WIU Fishing Club

You might want to contact the club - I am sure they could give you some pointers on getting started. Good luck! Walnut Point State Park up by Oakland has pretty good access to bank fishing. Lake Shelbyville also has some good areas to bank fish.

I watched that on TV the other day and couldn't believe southern didn't have a fishing team. Good luck on starting it up.

You college boys haven't fished out one of my honeyholes in my back yard have you?

I see where many colleges have bass fishing teams and compete nationally. I watch some of the contests on TV sometimes.

I also see the Hunting part of the title. What do you hunt?

I attended classes at EIU but I consider Illinois (Springfield) as my alma mater. It was called Sangamon State when I attended classes there.
