Live near taylorville looking for tips and spots

Hello Maddad.
I'm relatively new to the area myself, don't know where Taylorville is, but welcome to the site.
Lot's of great folks with lot's of good info here. I'm sure someone can give some good tips.

I live in Herrin. Hometown of my parents, grand parents and some of my great grand parents. Crab Orchard lake is close, so that's where I usually go. It's very close to Carterville, where The Crappie Shop is. Great shop, it's amazing how much cool stuff is in there and the staff is very knowledgable.

Name sounds familiar is it around jacksonville area?Used to fish around there alot moved over here about 6 years ago.For some reason people dont fish much over here!

Herrin is around the Carbondale/Marion area. Floater is right, if you ever get to Carterville which is right by Herrin, you need to stop in the crappie shop. If they don't have it there then it is not made for crappie.

Welcome, I'm from just down the road a few miles and more people are hookin' crappie than you know or think.

Lots of great info here, learned a lot just reading the posts.
