check this site out Trailer Wiring Diagrams

trailer wiring is really easy you have just two wire on each side running down or through the frame. it is brown and green wires on one side ,and brown and yellow on the other

The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad

Brother if you were down near me I'd help you. I recently replaced all my wires and it wasn't bad. here's what I did.

I went back to the back of the trailer made note of what colors they were.

Then I cut the wires at the front off the connector. My trailer has side lights so I cut the wires that spliced into the main wire going to the back.

I tied and taped the ends of the new wires at the front to the old wires (after splitting the old wires out so they weren't connected with that plastic stuff.

The wires at the back are still connected to the old lights, I took the lights off and pulled the old wire out, this pulled the new wires to the back.

I cut the wires where they were tied/taped and connected them to the new lights, spliced in the side lights in the middle, then hooked it up to the truck to test..

Once I was sure it all worked, I installed the rear lights (just bolted up).

put 2 layers of tape anywhere I thought the wires might hit a sharp edge and I was done..

NOTE: my light kit came with new wire, connectors, and splices.

Not too hard, just take your time and get the colors right.

Any u-haul or trailer rental place should do wiring, hitches, etc. Frank, it is real easy to do, just make sure to either use old wires to pull new or tie string to old wires then use that string to pull new, the only thing I would add to above posts is to water proof all your connections, its very easy-Any parts/hardware has a can of Star brite Liquid Electrical tape, Little brush is in cap of can, just brush on to cover all connections, it dries up just like that plastic coating on handles of pliers & other tools, will last 100 years......

Hey Frank, did you get the wires fixed? If not and you still need help I will be willing to help you out. Not sure how we will get together to gitter done but I would definatly help. I put LED'S on my boat trailer and I really like them. They are bright and I don't have to worry about un pluging them before I back the boat in the water.

I need to re-wire and put some submersible lights on my trailer. Where do you get these LED lights in Mattoon? I know several places that sell submersible trailer lights.

I am going to hire mine done, I have a neighbor that can do it for me but I don't think he does it for the public.

When U buy them make sure it says on package that they are submersible, as some of low cost brands don't say that which makes me think not all LED's are equal. All of bass pro does, farm/fleet here carries Peterson brand & they do but I have seen some that don't in cut rate stores, those I would stay away from. It sure is nice loading boat on trailer @ nite with LED's turned on, can get that boat right on trailer every time.

I have learned the hard way to not buy the cheapest product but to buy the best. I will look around, I am sure some one will be selling LED submersible trailer lights. I have a BassPro catalog if I can't find them locally. I sometimes fish at night, so good lighting would definately be a good thing.
