out mid morning today & caught my personal best crappie twice.
the first one was 12+in, then about 45 min. later got one 14+in. then another 8in. that was it for crappie, caught a few bass 14-15in. I know those crappie are not huge for most of you, but being the first year targeting them for me those are great. all fish were returned to the water for future p.bests

12 to 14 inch crappie are very very respectable fish for Illinois...especially that 14 incher. Great job..im sure they were beautiful fish.
Good job Turtlehead. As I'm still trying to get the hang of Crappie fishing, especially this time of year, I'm impressed. Keep us posted.

Did you fish TurtleHead Forest Preserve to catch those fish? 14" is a dandy anywhere in my book
Thanks all
not quite sure how big they get but i have heard of 16in.ers up here. I know the state record is 4#+ how many ins. is that?
turtlehead is a cook county forest preserve lake thats done me well for bass all year.
this is my first time hunting crappie exclusively & finding them hard to find & catch in numbers. i am still catching more bass than crappie on them minnows
There aint nothing wrong with catchin a 12 and a 14 incher. Congrats on the catch.
