Thread: Horseshoe 10-18-09

Havnt seen anyone post anything out of the old shoe in awhile.. Caught these Sunday morning in the brush. All 12-18 inches deep. Only have a few days left before the duck hunters take over and i'm out of luck

Those look like some really nice ones! Fun to catch shallow like that for sure! Stay on em while you can

Nice catch.... Were you at the horseshoe near granite City? I was there last week and caught about 50 and only 4 of them were keepers the rest were dinks. I think I am going to try it again next week.

Nice catch there. you got more in one day than i got in the last 2 weeks last monday i got 3 9-10 in.

Don't bother because it will be closed to fishing and boat traffic with the exception to waterfowl hunters for duck season.

Actually we get till Oct 31st this year before duck season in the central zone, so next week is still open for crappie at Horseshoe.. I know i'll be out there.. MontanaBoy ya I was at the ole granite city horseshoe and I had to weed through alot of dinks to get those 20 keepers. You fishin in a boat or from shore??

Actually you have through this Sunday at sunset. The youth duck hunt is Saturday and Sunday then closes to boat traffic Sunday evening and opens to waterfowl hunters only starting Saturday.

Was there this afternoon from 4 till 6:30.
The sign at intersection of entrance and lake road says closed to boats starting Oct 25.
The sign at the ramp says starting 26th.

Thanks for thei info Illinois_angler.. Sure would of been mad monday morning... Guess thats what I get for asking the DNR guy emptying the trash cans when I had to stop taking my boat on the lake So can we still fish with a boat on Sat and Sun??
