Thread: Crab Orchard 10-18-09

Went back to the lake today and invited a buddy to go. He got a new handheld Lowrance GPS that he wanted to play with a little bit so we hit a few spots. Fishing was really slow until 3 or so then we managed to find a school of fish in the 10-12 inch range...solid ones....but no real big ones like yesterday. We ended up with 40 and probably threw back that many. Still using the Cottonmouth Jigs tied on 2 at a time about 20 inches apart. My buddy doubled up once today on both jigs with two 11 inchers. He thought he had a 3 pounder..haha. Beautiful day to fish even if the fish would not have cooperated.

Once again, them some nice ones CP! Looks like ol crab orchard is a nice lake for the crappie. Good job.

Looks like you had a great weekend. Thanks for the update. My buddy LOZcrappie and I went to lake of the ozarks over the weekend and did pretty good. We cleaned 75. I don't think we had as many big one like you had. I need to get down there this fall sometime....

Brain..every spring break my buddy and I go somewhere in the south to crappie fish. And just about every year we find ourselved sitting in the boat at some point saying "we could have done better back home".

Living in Missouri I don't get back to Crab as much as I would like. Grew up in Illinois and visited frequently. Thank you for your reports Carp, makes me feel closer to "home".

Great looking mess CP. I haven't got to go much then summer after having that little one. Still have most of my vacation left going to hit it hard this fall.

Nice Mess Of Fish On Both Days... Was In The Deer Stand Yesterday Morning And Evening... Should Have Took My Crappie Rods With Me To The Stand Because There Wasnt Much Going On With All The Crops Still In... Sure Was A Nice Day Especially Yesterday Morning..
