LSG how was your day?
Steve, seen you this morning on the lake and was wondering how you faired? I had 12 by 11:30 a.m. Most of my fish came in 6 to 8 fow... Couldn't get them to bite deep? The rain and wind sure put a damper on some good spots today for me. Going to give another try saturday morning when the sun returns. And i do have my fingers crossed! I know also its getting ever so close to running to the Big Sandy, I've been watchin the weather can't wait to get back down there...

It was tough for me today too...That east wind really sucked.

Big Pond Today
My luck was just opposite of yours. When you saw me heading south at Findley bridge I was done with north end. I have been getting some fish around RR bridge much shallower than the south end but today it seamed the white bass had run my crappie out. Been getting some real big whites on crappie jigs last few days.
Anyway we headed down to Lone Point and our luck turned around. We fished trees that I left alone for last three days and we ended up with about thirty or so. Didn't have our limit but had some very good fish. Had one over 13 and two pushing 13. We quit at 12:30 clients were froze out.
Our fish are coming in 15-22ft. on white Bighead jigs and green and pearl sparkle tubes. Getting some fish on red Bighead jigs and brown and chartreuse at first light on these dark days. The further south you go the more you need the white head and lighter tubes.
My success is leaving the trees alone for several days and working new ones. The ends of these down trees don't have a bunch of branches left so only two or three fish will be on them. They are the bigger fish than the trees that have a bunch of branches and a bunch of little fish along side the better fish.
I am using the side-imaging to travel along points on high clay banks to find trees that nobody else are using. These trees you can't see the rootball up on the bank.
Once we get back into a more fall like weather pattern I will be back on north end. Bigger fish and shallow fish easier for clients to catch.
Almost forgot congrats on the Crappie U.S.A. victory. That is better than I have ever done you should be very proud of yourselves. Yes it is almost Paris Landing time, can't wait.

LSG, went yesterday my first several fish were white bass. I usally dont catch that many white bass fishing deeper brush. If you are catching white bass in a brush pile have they probably pushed the crappie out?

White bass
The whites I have been getting aren't in deep brush but more in the shallow ones. If anyone wants white bass action. They are in the big basin to the east of Bo-Woods boat ramp. It is full of bait and all the down trees have big whites on them. I am also getting them on the sand bar just south of the RR bridge.
I do believe that these whites are running the crappie out of the brush. They can't compete with the more aggressive white bass for food.

Steve, thanks for your post. My son and I had a awsome classic. Well worth the trip. I am glad i got to do it with my son! After day one and only weighting in six fish, because he counted wrong
... and we was sitting in 14th place. He sure redeemed himself by landing the big fish of the tourney. And catching all but one of our keeper for saturdays weigh in.
I did try deep but i was using red/chart tipped with a small minnow. i have a 797 si and was finding the lay downs but now i think i might of been using the wrong color?
Birdman, if you see a silver/metalflake Nitro 884 with a 150 opitmax stop and say hello! Only seen one other boat beside steve today maybe that was you?

I put in at eagle. I fished eagle creek then headed north to coal shaft... Didn't get up your way. I was going to venture up the okaw or kaskaskia but with all the cold fronts and clouds didn't think it would pay off. Going to try up there sat. Maybe see ya then.

You didnt miss anything, coal shaft was the smart choice. There has been some real nice ones being caught around there. I was just to stubborn to head up that way with the wind.

Crappie 24- Winning The Classic Is A Great Feat. You Beat The Best Around. That Will Be A Memory Your Son Will Never Forget. Without Being Able To Fish The Lake Much, It Is Hard To Put A Pattern Together. Again Congrats.
