Thread: Rend Lake 090709

I need to also report that I went out with Nick Schafer on Monday afternoon with his son for three or four hours. We had started out the day at 4:15 AM when I arrived after no sleep to meet them at Nick's home to go hunt Teal and Geese. We hunted from sunrise through around 10 AM and scored six Teal but that is another story!

We retired back to his house and after checking in with his wife and beautiful seven month old daughter, he asked me if I wanted to go fishing! And being the absolute wh0re and glutton I am, I jumped at the chance!!

We hit Rend Lake from I think Gun Creek (Nick?) and went and hit the White Bass where we caught a few before going after Crappie. We ended up with just three or four keepers and then after three or so hours in the warm, warm sunshine (a far cry from the fog I drove through from 1:30 AM to 4:15 AM to get there) we ended up with about a dozen Crappie keepers.

Sorry no pictures but they were caught on minnows for the most part (Crappie that is) and in 2 to 3 foot of water in laydowns near the shores and then over structure in about 12 foot or so of water but I will let Nick chime in as I am barely coherent after the last fantastic four days!

And while we did not catch as many fish from around 1:30 PM through close to 5 PM, we had a fantastic time and I still cannot believe how his son stayed awake and kept up with us adults the entire time!!!

u shot those teal on the refuge did ya nick u guys catch ur fish out of a barrel too hahah :D
