    Default Shelbyville As Of Late

I have guided now ten out of last thirteen days. Been beating up on the whites early then go crappie fishing and if enough time at end of day jigging spoons on the big buffalo. Clients worn out and never seen so many fish.

The white bass fishing was as good as I have ever seen. I had over two thousand come over the side easy. One day we had 306 from one anchored spot before 9:30. Some two pound and slighly larger fish so it was a ball.

My crappie aren't that big so I haven't really been taking pics of them just more concerned about getting a three man limit. We have been doing very well both in willows and standing timber mid lake. Had almost every trip with three man limit all on minnows and slip bobbers.

Shelbyville despite the lake falling has been red hot for me. Coves are so full of bait that you don't know if a crappie or bass will take the minnow. I am staying back and tossing a minnow past the tree and reeling it back and let it slip about four-feet. They hammer it but the coves are so clear you must stay back to get the bigger fish. The bigger the minnow the better. The bait is high in the water column so it doesn't matter if you are in six feet of water or twenty.

    Thumbs up

It sounds like lots of fun. I need to load up and fish Shelbyville but it is so easy just to fish from the house. I catch enough crappie and channels to make it interesting but no great numbers. I am worried about the local shad numbers. There doesn't seem to be the shad there was a few years ago.

I hope your health is better. The hot weather bothers my health, I will be looking for some cooler weather soon . Keep the reports from Shelbyville coming, we all appreciate them.

Hope they still running when we get down Aug 30- Sep 4. Camping at wolf creek with new condo tent (15 x 20), with wife & 11 yr. old son. Will ramp @ wolf creek be ok to launch 14' smokercraft? Launched there back in april when water was real high with no problems, but wondering if it will be diff. with lake dropping.

The ramps are fine, we are back using normal ramps and all docks are in. The only thing I know is that the Corp has received bids to replace both the bathrooms and cleaning stations at Bo-Woods and Wilborn. I don't know the construction schedule so it might hinder guys from cleaning fish on north end this fall.

    Default White Bass

If it is windy I use a Blue Fox Vibrax Number two or three on flats with willows like point five or six. If no wind I probe the deep ledges looking for bait. Once I find bait I mark them with a buoy and get out the slab spoons and my drop-shot rigs that I tip with a live minnow. The second way is how to get into the big ones right now. The lake has fallen enough that all my ledge spots are working. These fish school up by the thousands and if you find them you can load the cooler.

Holy crap over two thousand whites in a week!? Man that's a lot of fish. I imagine your hands would be pretty badly beat up after catching all those little piranha's. I'm hoping to get down there Friday morning after my physical therapy appointment. So if anyone see's someone w/ a boot on their leg trying to fish, that'd be me!

    Thank you very much!

If we go - and I hope we do - we will hopefully be there before sunrise. Is there anywhere near the lake on the northern ends or coming from Findley where one can buy minnows after 5 AM that are worth a hoot or should we go ahead and get them the night ahead and hope they survive with a small aereator??

    Thanks again!!!

    Bob
