Anyone hit Shelbyville this weekend?
I am taking Tuesday off and would love to go but desire a scouting report before we decide as Nick would have to drive a 100 miles and me 75...plus, there is rain in the forecast.
Just checking as it was sure quiet today. Everyone must have been at the State Fair...:D

My wife and I fished about 6 hours on Friday. We ended up with 13 over ten inches and 10 under ten inches. Nothing huge - did have a couple bump 11 inches. Took them on laydowns, brush off steep banks, and a few in standing timber. The action was slower than it has been for us. The first decent day looks like Friday. Will probably go again then.

Thanks for the update. And what with the rain right now, we are either going to postpone or try Rend in the Morning.
Thanks again!

Zettler - Did you go fishing today on your birthday? Either way, hope you had a good day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found out weekends are tough to fish this lake as too many pw craft and speed demons and very few places to get away from them. I fished sat. in several of my old honey holes with no luck as rough water keep us bouncing all day. Weekdays are good but weekends are bad ..

chuck61938 - Welcome to the board. I assume you are from Mattoon also. I have not fished Shelbyville on the weekend since I retired 16 years ago unless it is early or late in the season when the pleasure boaters and jet skies are long gone.

I did spend most of my life in Mattoon but live in troy IL. now. Use the zip code with most of my names so my name charles or smith are so common all names are taken, so zip helps. My father and I fished shelbyville from when it filled up so quickly till present.Carlyle is close but shaped like a bowl of water. I like shelbyville but a good drive from here.Plus i just turned 75 and do not get around near as fast and have a 20 ft. pontoon boat to fish out of.Thanks for the welcome and will post if i ever get some fish, good luck fishing.

Hey guys, as we postponed my annual birthday trip due to weather (which NEVER rained) I am looking for guidance for saturday?
Nick can't get away but I can and would appreciate any and all public and private suggestions - especially how and where to fish for the WHITE Bass too!
I am a novice and will appreciate any and all counsel - plus, I will respect confidentiality!
I haven't been there on my own and plan on an all day, early morning outing. Not looking for GPS coordinates but a good point in the right direction and what to use and the like.
Mucho gracias!
(PS The above was posted from my Blackberry as I am that desperate to get out there and learn!!!!)
