Thread: Shelbyville 8/2/09

Got to the lake late this morning . Lots of boats out there . Put in at Eagle and fished south of there . After trying several spots and putting up with huge waves and lake lice I found some fish . On one laydown a Ski Boat kept coming with in 50 feet or less of where I was fishing . Not just once but several times . They had the whole main lake to play and they wanted just play where I was . Maybe I just don't play well with others . Any way I came away with 10 overs and 2 unders . Caught them on minnows 10 to 12 feet deep on laydowns . Biggest was 11 1/4" . Also caught several bass and sunfish as well . Water temps were 75 to 77 degrees . Sorry no pictures .

Good report kevin, glad you got on some fish and finally got back on the water. Tons of boats out today for sure...lots of big waves, too

Ill just add onto his post about shelbyville today. We hit the water at 11 and left about 3ish and had 22 keepers. Had 16 overs an 6 unders. Standing timber, dont know how deep since dont have a graph that works. But we were fishing 8-12 foot down with minnows. Some came on jigs as well. Here is a picture...

haha ken, yes I do. There are days that it takes a while to find them or they just arent willing to bite and it gets frustrating. But im learning the whole time, gets easier as I go... It doesnt seem like it, but I wasnt very pleased with today. Whenever I take people I want to put them on tons of fish and make them happy and its stressful when it doesnt work out that well..I know steve knows the feeling. Maybe you get used to it as time goes on?

p.s. did you know you live a couple blocks from me?

Q. When your on fish there do you anchor, tie off or what to stay on them?

shon- was that a compliment?

zettler- me personally I will just use the trolling motor to hover above them or next to the tree. Occasionally I will tie off using a long piece of rope, and sometimes if im fishing with more than one person in the boat I will anchor out from the tree or brush and toss minnows to them.

I take it you have a foot peddle trolling? I just have a 55 Minn Kota keel mounted....
