Thread: There goes the neighborhood!

Well, I have been lurking here since Nick Shafer and others suggested I visit after I started to go fishing again this year so I thought it was time to start posting!.

I am in the Springfield area and have been fishing over the last year at Shelbyville, Rend, Lake Kinkaid, Coffeen and Sangchris. My primary passion is hunting but a close second has been Crappie fishing and it took good friends like Nich Shafer to get me back out again after a decade or more absence, and good God I have had a blast! I still like to go after all species and have yet to even catch a Walleye, White Bass or Muskie. I even chase Bass and my son caught the new state record Yellow Bass last November while we were with Nick Shafer at Rend going after Crappie.



This past spring I fished Shelbyville a number of times and want to get back there soon! I traded a shotgun last month and got a 14' Smoker Craft (72" across) that has a nice Johnson outboard and trailer - now all I need a hitch on my van...

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and thanks for all the posts over the past several months as they have kept me informed, interested and entertained!

In any case, I would have posted earlier but I have been primarily reading the posts here on my Blackberry at work and that sure is tough!!!

By the way, I should have mentioned that the BIG guy is Nick Shafer with my son Jon in the above picture. I took the picture...

Again, I may be old but I am a novice compared to you guys and after a 20 year sabatical, I am ready to get back into fishing!


And, Nick, I do appreciate your friendship and all that you have done for Jon and me. He and I talked tonight about going somewhere this weekend but it sounds like he is headed to St. Louis with his Mom. I guess I will spend it with my Lite friends, Bud and Miller!

Primarily waterfowl as I am commonly referred to as a Waterfowler Wh0re! I also go after pheasant, deer, turkey, dove, rabbit and the occassional quail.

I almost totally quit fishing when my children were born and only occassionally went out now and then. Now that they are grown I am ready to go anywhere, anytime!

Some favorite times from when I was younger happened with my buddies night fishing on a farm pond with a case (or two) of beer. Those were the days!
