No video clip today, just some observation and speculation. I think I know where most of the crappie are this time of the year, at least on the lake I fish the most. They are out in the deep water chasing this year's shad crop. I have been seeing schools of this year's shad swimming near the surface all over the lake. Then, just under them, I have seen the crappie working them. There are several crappie under every school. They are hard to fish this way because if you throw anything at them, the shad school spooks and the crappie do too. I know it is tough to catch crappie at my usual spots, I think they are chasing shad in the open water.
The shad crop looks poor this year, I think the flooding at spawning time hurt this year's crop. And, I think everything else will suffer because of the poor shad spawn.
Just my observation and opinion.
