Default Lake Decatur

Finally found some nice crappie in Lake Decatur. My boy and I have been the last few days in the afternoons and come home with some good ones. We have been fishing the lake for about a year now and have always caught a bunch of 8" to 9" ones. We are going to go out tomorrow early morning and see what we can do with a bit more time. Here are pics from two of the last three afternoons. We didn't get home last night till 10:30. We had 8 keepers last night too. Didn't take any pics, just wanted to get 'em cleaned and take a bath and eat.

They were caught on jigs. The biggest one was 12 1/2" and the smallest was right at 10". Most were around 11". Caught in deep water around 9'.

The 12 year old and i picked up a dozen yesterday.Six keepers and the other 6 were just a hair under 10 inches.Out of the 6 keepers, the biggest was 12 inches and the other keepers were in the 10.5 to 10.75 inch range.Minnows 6 to 7 foot deep.Caught a few small cats along with em as well. All crappie were blacks.Talked to a couple guys coming in to the boat ramp and they had 17 between em and they said they were all blacks also.We caught ours from the bank.

Lake decatur isn't doin to bad right now. There a couple of guys here in my small town that are top notch crappie guys, they fish all the crappie usa tourneys, and they've givin me some tid bits of info here recently on their summer patterns.I don't normally fish for crappie in the summer, but i'm gonna change that a little with some of the locations they gave me.Accessible from boat and bank. Can't wait until the november bite.Hey bird,i have a friend who works our docks and said that a couple of the docks are gone.Have ya been down that way?Even though we can't fish em any more.

Yeah I have been down nin that area a couple times. The road that you can take down there has about 6 foot of water on it. The front docks where we usually slay them are gone. Its just a complete mess... But should be good fishin this fall if u can get there anyway
