Default Headed for the creek...

Dad and I are off to a creek in paris, Illinois at 5 in the morning that we wade down. We will be trying to tackle the smallies. We usually get around 50-100 on a trip. Nothing big, 8-18 inches but my goodness I think the 10 inch ones fight as hard as the 2 or 3lbers in canada!!! We will stop at a few deeper holes and dip some worms for some channels and GAR! Hope to take some pictures and will post on this thread when we return.

I do the same sort of thing on the Little Wabash and the Embarras Rivers sometimes in some summers. Except I target channel catfish instead of smallies. They are often in the same holes as the smallles. It can be lots of fun and a cool way to spend a hot afternoon. I hope you had good luck!

Birdy, there are similar creeks and rivers in this area that you can do the same thing on but sometimes, it is tough to get landowner's permission. I like the Embraw in late summer, it can be waded for smallies and channels. Probably not this summer, there is too much flooding.
I had a guy show me a nice bunch of channels he caught on the Little Wabash this morning. I could show you a video clip of what a buddy and I did yesterday but, it would just draw too much attention. I like to keep some things private. I have enough trouble with guys follwing me around and hijacking my spots already. Some spots can only take so much pressure before they become worthless.
