Andy got up late last night and after rigging rods and BSing we hit the racks.6 came early but after a short breakfeast we headed out for the lake.
We stayed pretty busy until about 10 ....then things slowed with that clipper barreling through.
We caught several species and had a blast laughing at how chicken those fish reacted to our lifts.
I caught a slab deadsticking right off the bat while getting Andy situated.
Heck the bail hadn't even been shut as I was letting line down.
Ten Andy tags his 1st fish of the day.
What a bruiser.:D
Here's Andy very 1st crappie on BSL.
What a hog!
He also tagged this very nice gill that we released.
Here was his 1st but not the last crappie of the day for Andy.
With the high pressure setting in we did all we could do for these guys.
We released several smaller ones and some that you could have kept ,but the bite was indicative of the front as we caught mostly smaller fish.
Then Andy catches a beauty.
Boy did he light up after that.
I'm sure it bought me another half day on the ice as we had been getting bucket butt.
Trying to decide if that pic or this one makes a better avatar photo?
Here's a lil waldo we decided to cull for dinner.
I think Andy's debut as camerman bit the big one on this video.
We spent about 8 hours riding those buckets as I could not get my Otter out to the lake in Andy's car.
That bench seat would have been awesome.
We released a good 30 fish and kept close to our limits.
It was a gas for sure fishing with Andy and I know tommorow will be just as fun.
Here's the last 2 videos of Andy catching and releasing the fish of the day.
Sat. was a tough day after the happy hour was over.
Andy and I caught several fish but we really had to work for them.
The ceiling was 3 foot off of the bottom in 24 fow.
Was saw very few big fish and the ones we caught were hooked up in the very front of the lip.
The clipper that rolled through really effected those fish.
Sunday was completely different.
A low came in and it started to snow. The fish were flying up to as much as 6 foot from the bottom. Many came through 3 foot off of the bottom.
We saw many larger fish today as well that we let go for another day.
We had a great day and laughed a lot once again.
Our holes were a bit closer today .We were reading each others jigs and found ourselves from time to time work the mark of the other guys jigs.
Andy stuck this big mule which gave him a great fight.
where are you fishing ? didnt seem cold enough to have thick ice ??? how many inch thick
Nice job.We are just starting to get some safe ice out here in Ma.I hope to post some pics by next weekend.Nice report.Keep them coming!
Job well done, again.
Still waiting on fishable ice for me, we do have 2 to 2 1/2'', and there are some guys on it, but not me. And temps for tommorow, Tuesday are 45 and rain, which does not make for good ice production.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS 4 '' OF GOOD ICE.
We have 6" of ice here on the smaller lakes in the twin cities area. The cold temps here really have the ice forming!
